The first virtue is curiosity. A burning itch to know is higher than a solemn vow to pursue truth. To feel the burning itch of curiosity requires both that you be ignorant, and that you desire to relinquish your ignorance.
Singularity University (SU) was founded Sept. 20, 2008. The SU curriculum provides a broad, interdisciplinary exposure to ten fields of study: future studies and forecasting; networks and computing systems; biotechnology and bioinformatics; nanotechnology; medicine, neuroscience and human enhancement; artificial intelligence, robotics, and cognitive computing; energy and ecological systems; space and physical sciences; policy, law and ethics; and finance and entrepreneurship.
The Singularity project illuminates the broader implications of using managed code to develop operating system components. Although we probably won't see anything like Singularity running on desktop computers any time in the near future, the concepts have a lot of theoretical merit and will likely interest many in the academic community.
But isn’t there an overall limit to our ability to expand the power of computation?
